Once Bitten, Twice Awesome

Back when Blizz announced the goblin and worgen races, I wasn’t the least bit interested in them. As we got closer to the Cataclysm, however, I started seeing more videos of them and I started to get more interested in them. The animations and spell effects for changing between human and worgen are very cool and the bow animations are pure awesome. So I said to myself, “Self, you should race change!” I was set on changing my gnome warrior into a worgen.

When the time came, I was a little tight on extra cash. I mean, we’re living on one income now and it is Christmas time, after all. So I had to wait. And the more I had to wait, the more I realized – there’s already too damn many worgen warriors. So what can I do?! Read on, dear reader!

Race change my hunter.

For over a decade of gaming, 11 years as of November to be exact, Aalwein Corpsechaser has been an elven hunter. Across many different MMOs, some of which I simply beta tested and others that I spent countless hours playing, Aalwein has been my primary character. Long before Aalwein came along, I was playing elven hunters/rangers. In fact, in any game which had elf and hunter combinations to choose from, I was playing them. But the “first” Aalwein was an elven ranger in Norrath, the world of Everquest. And now Aalwein is a human bitten by the wolverine curse of the feral Worgen.

At first it was odd to be something other than an elven bowman. I mean, in these past 11 years I have played in some MMO or another quite constantly. Aalwein has become more than just a character in my stable, he’s part of my online persona. The fact that my only other highly played character is named after my first born son is enough to attest to that. But the transition has left me feeling a bit high.

The worgen are great fun and that 1% crit change bonus is nothing to scoff at (although, it’s nothing to celebrate either). I can honestly say I haven’t looked back. It’s just too much fun. Blizz has done an excellent job with the worgen race. My only complaint is that the helm graphics are downright horrible on the worgen form. I’d love to have an option to show the helmet in human form and hide it when feral. But I can live without showing my helmet; it’s well worth the trade-off.

Whilst I agree a Worgen is Better than a Pansy tree Hugging Hippy Elf, it is definately no Dwarf ……But to be Honest I’m glad u have enjoyed the change and hopefully I wont be the hairiest hunter in the raids from now on bud.

Dwarf hunters should not exist for the mere fact that the sound of that freaking gun is horrible! Man up and shoot a bow lol

Hmm lets think about this from a guys point of view Daryah……. Pansy tree hugging bow that makes a thack sound when fired or Big Manly Gun which when fired scares the absolute crap outta anything within 5 miles with all and sundry wondering if the next shot will get them. Now thats what I call a force multiplier. ;)
